Circus 2000- 1970 Italy

One of the few American sounding Italian bands, and so convincing that even Vernon Joynson, in his 1988 book The Flashback included them in the US psychedelia section!
Circus 2000, from Turin, were formed in 1970 and released late that year both their first album and single (containing Italian versions of two songs from the LP).
The album had no line-up references on the cover, and many people at the time thought they were an English or American band. It contains ten songs, with a very short running time, with strong californian psych influence and the beautiful female voice of Silvana Aliotta above all. A mediocre album, not representative of the Italian style, yet it's regarded by many as a very nice one. "I Am The Witch" (also on single in the Italian version "Io, La Strega") is one of the best cuts. (italianprog.com)
From their 1970 first self-titled album  i chose " I Can't Believe", "I Am The Witch" and "The Lord, He Has No Hands". Enjoy!!!

Members:

Silvana Aliotta (vocals, percussion)
Marcello "Spooky" Quartarone (guitar, vocals)
Gianni Bianco (bass)
Franco "Dede" Lo Previte (drums)

East Of Eden- Snafu- 1970 UK

East Of Eden was a British progressive rock band, who had a Top 10 hit in the UK with the single, "Jig-a-Jig", in 1971. The track was stylistically unlike any of their other work .Although some might consider this group as being a symphonic progressive band, others state that their style is mostly jazz oriented. Combining flutes, violins and tape loops to folk, gypsy and psychedelic music, the East Of Eden style was always heavily supported on a pure rock base, strong and experimental.(wiki)
From their 1970 second album "Snafu",  i chose "Gum Arabic- Confucius" and "Nymphenberger".

Olatunji-Drums Of Passion-1960 Nigeria

Babatunde Olatunji (April 7, 1927 – April 6, 2003) was a Nigerian drummer, educator, social activist and recording artist.
"Drums of Passion" is an album released by Nigerian percussionist Babatunde Olatunji in 1960. Unquestionably, it was the first recording to popularize African music in the west, becoming immensely successful and selling over five million copies. Jin-Go-Lo-Ba" was the most popular song on the album and sold millions of copies, as a single. In fact this simple exchange between the mother drum (iya ilu) and the baby drum omele became Babatunde's signature song.
"Jin-Go-Lo-Ba" (or "Jingo") has been covered by Serge Gainsbourg, under the title "Marabout" on his Gainsbourg percussions LP (1964), by Santana on their first album, Santana, (1969), by James Last on his album Voodoo-Party (1971), by Pierre Moerlen's Gong on the album Downwind (1979) and by Fatboy Slim on his album Palookaville (2004).(wiki)
Two songs from this album,""Akiwowo (Chant of the Trainman)"  and the original version of  "Jin-Go-Lo-Ba (Drums of Passion)". Enjoy!!!
